Sources and Credits
Emberwise content is adapted and simplified from public guidance by the organisations below. It is written in our own words for short missions. It is not endorsed by any of them, and they are not responsible for how we present it. Each mission in the app lists the sources it draws on.
Public sources
- American Red Cross — first aid, preparedness and emergency kits. redcross.org
- World Health Organization (WHO) — safe drinking water, hygiene and sanitation, health basics. who.int
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) — emergency water treatment, hygiene, heat and cold illness. cdc.gov
- FEMA and Ready.gov — household preparedness, power outages, emergency plans and supplies. ready.gov
- Wilderness Medical Society — wilderness first aid principles and practice guidelines. wms.org
- US Army Field Manual 21-76, Survival (and its successor FM 3-05.70) — shelter, signalling, navigation and field craft principles. armypubs.army.mil
- US National Park Service (NPS) — backcountry safety, fire and land-use guidance. nps.gov
- NOAA and the US National Weather Service — weather hazards, warnings and safety. weather.gov
- USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) — food safety, storage and power-outage food guidance. fsis.usda.gov
- NHS (UK National Health Service) — first aid and self-care basics. nhs.uk
How we use them
We read the public guidance, simplify it and turn it into short missions with choices and feedback. We do not copy their text, images or logos. Organisation names are trademarks of their owners and are used here only to cite sources. Content that touches on health is kept conservative and always tells you to call emergency services if you can. Practices differ between countries, so check the guidance that applies where you live.
